KnowAtom was one of the best after-school activities that we've come across. Mr. V was a knowledgeable, capable, highly-organized, and fun science teacher. Each week the science activities were well planned out and engaging. My son loved participating in " science club", and he gained a deeper level of knowledge and understanding of concepts!

This is a great program to get your child excited about science as a fun learning experience vs. a chore.

You are doing these kids such a great service. Brendan has such a passion for science and math. It is great that he connected with you. You are fueling his imagination and his ambitions.

My son, Nathan, has been involved with KnowAtom for almost 2 years now. Nathan is "7 ½," as he says, and shows moderate inclinations towards school. As the only son of two PhD's, we somehow thought he would be as excited to go to school each day as we remember being. Well, so much for the ideal world!
In contrast, Nathan is excited to go to KnowAtom every time. He has a great group of friends there and looks forward to every lesson, even forgoing a bowling birthday party with his school mates so he wouldn't miss a session with his "science-mates"!
Most important to me as a practicing physicist, KnowAtom has clearly taught Nathan the elements of problem solving, what some would call the "scientific method." There is a lot of talk in the media about companies in the United States outsourcing technical jobs to other countries, in part, because of their supposedly superior elementary schools. So, now, in Massachusetts, we have mandated testing driving the curriculum which can be good, but it also limits parent involvement in school. Having Nathan go to KnowAtom after school allows my wife and I to direct Nathan's lessons by complimenting school lessons instead of fighting city hall for more science classes during school.
Finally, while I can and do answer most of Nathan's "Why is the physical world this way?" questions, the answers don't always excite his interest as much as I'd like. Moreover, life being busy as life is, especially with two working parents, we don't spend as much time with Nathan methodically teaching him about the world as we thought we would. In this way, KnowAtom complements our efforts at home. Even better, Nathan's friends at KnowAtom are also excited and a team-learning attitude is brought home and practiced during their unstructured play time.
I recommend KnowAtom wholeheartedly and without reserve. If I can answer any questions from a parents perspective, please email me at Morgan01944@Yahoo.com.
